Sunday Praise: What’s been making me happy lately?

  • Next week I have an eyebrow wax, a haircut and a Covid vaccine lined up! Things are looking brighter…
  • On a similar note, the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival in Belfast is back in September and I’ve booked tickets for Erland Cooper and Joan As Policewoman – live music, how amazing that would be!
  • For the last five months I have been practically living in jeans and sweatshirts so in the hope that life is getting back to some kind of normality, I treated myself to a new dress…
  • I’m going back to work on 10 May and to be honest, I’m looking forward to it.
  • The online reaction to the new guest star in Line of Duty last week was hilarious. Let’s just say that the majority of the Northern Ireland audience were a little underwhelmed. And in other Line of Duty news, how cute are these?
  • As the Oscars are tonight, this clip of Olivia Coleman discussing her Oscar win on the National Theatre’s Life in Stages series is really very sweet.
  • Mr 746 Books and I took a trip to the Asian Supermarket in Belfast this week. It’s the only place I can get my favourite instant noodles and I bought 17 packs!
  • Spent yesterday in our happy place. Campfires, rope swings and gorgeous walks. Can’t beat it.
Cregagh Wood, Glens of Antrim
  • Believe it or not, I have actually started planning my pile for 20 Books of Summer! It’s my favourite reading time of the year!
  • This video of Tim Roth, Gary Oldman and Willem Dafoe walking in a Prada fashion show nearly ten years ago has brought me so much joy this week…

So, what in your life deserves some praise this week? Let me know in the comments!

  1. That fashion show. 🥰They look so great. I used to have a big crush on Willem Dafoe as a teenager.
    Your dress is lovely.
So many nice things in your post. I should really do ousts like that as well. It’s a nice reminder for oneself and people enjoy seeing them.

  2. A walk in the autumn sunshine through some very old remnant vegetation in a nearby park yesterday was a joy: we could almost believe we were out in the bush and yet we were only five minutes from home. We are blessed with so many beautiful places to walk the dog, right here in the suburbs of Melbourne.

  3. I have just returned to the office (only one day a week) – very pleased to be breaking out the dresses again 🙂
I love the Sand & Sky range (especially their moisturizer).
Now to turn my mind to 20 Books… – I’ll be trying extra hard this year after failing last year!

  4. Love the dress and congrats on the vaccine and spa treatments!
You go back to work on my birthday. 🙂
So glad things are looking up. What’s been bringing me joy lately is buying myself fresh flowers once a week and just trying to be outside as much as possible.

  5. I was thinking about 20 books of summer the other day, too! I was thinking OK May is Daphne du Maurier week and I have my two Anne Tylers, now do I include those in 20 books, etc., etc. Also: haircut, eyebrows, vaccine AND a dress! Whee!

  6. I felt awful the day after my first vaccine as well, but fine after the second dose – amazing how happy it makes us all feel isn’t it?! Thank you for all of this but especially Olivia Coleman, I need to go back now and watch everything else on NT!

  7. That is a lovely dress. I am happy you treated yourself.

The 20 Books of Summer thing is new to me but oh, it’s brings a lot of joyful things to mind. I will be deep in the move of my two kids late summer. I hope reading can hold my attention as those weeks creep up on me. So much to think about.
